Mission Statement and Policies

For over eight years, I have worked as a writing tutor.  During this time, I was also a student, spending each day learning about writing and how to improve.  It is my deepest wish to share what I’ve learned with you, helping you improve as I continue to learn as well.

I have a profound love for writing and helping others with their writing.  One of the things  I love most about writing is it can always improve.  This applies to any level too.  I learn something about writing or mechanics nearly every day.  In turn, I share what I learn with you.

My mission is to help student writers become more proficient.  To that end, this is not an editing service.  I do not correct grammatical errors because that doesn’t help you in the long run.

What I will do is work with you.  I’ll talk to you on the whiteboard, addressing any questions you have.  Maybe you’re not sure what a thesis statement is or where it should go.  Maybe your professor mentioned you need topic sentences or transitions, and you don’t know how to write them.  Perhaps you have an assignment, and you have no idea where to begin.  Those are all perfectly fine questions to have, (along with many others) and I’d be happy to help you work through them.

Maybe you were able to complete a draft, but you’d like me to critique it for you.  In that case, send it to me as an attachment (Email me) or share your document in Google Docs (with the same email address).  I work with PayPal for your convenience, and I’ll return your paper with comments/suggestions within 3 days of its submission.
